Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a platform for students to develop their mountain biking skills while promoting physical fitness and a love for the outdoors. We believe that through the sport of mountain biking, we can inspire personal growth and empower individuals to overcome challenges. Whether it's conquering a difficult trail section or pushing through mental barriers, our team members learn the importance of perseverance, determination, and self-belief.

Our
Story

We started our first season in 2023...almost too late to be included in the PA NICA League! But thanks to a dedicated and skilled team of folks, we pulled it off and were able to field a roster of 26 riders and 15 coaches that first season. Working hard to promote our team and train our coaches, we increased participation in 2024. We also saw a top 5 finish and some consistent top 10 finishes in our NICA races. Our events included cookouts, campouts and fun trail maintenance days. The future is bright for our team! The parental commitment (including coaching), coupled with the full support of the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District and its Athletic Department, infuse our team and its goals with promise and excitement.
Our heart is for kids and biking and NICA is an excellent partner in that endeavor! Join us as a rider, coach, parent volunteer or to cheer us on at our next event.

Coach
Jim McDevitt
I am an avid biker and over the years have competed in road, cyclocross, cross country mountain bike and gravel races/events. Although, my favorite is mountain biking! My wife is Valerie and we have an older daughter and younger son, both at Unionville High School. I am looking forward to a fun time working with the parents and children that join the team this season. While not biking, I enjoy taking care of our 2 dogs and 4 cats, racing sailboats, and woodworking. In my spare time, I am a consultant that specializes in air quality, infectious disease transmission, and health buildings. I have a Ph.D. and Master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and have a BS from good ole West Chester University. I also spent 10 years on active duty in the US Air Force.

TEAM Director
Sarah Flowers
I think of two wheels as freedom...and I have since I was a little girl! I love riding bikes and I love being in the out of doors. Mountain biking is a great way to combine these two passions! My son also rides for the team and I enjoy being able to share this sport with him. I have a deep desire to see our student athletes grow into who they were meant to be by increasing confidence both on and off the bike. Empowering our riders to develop their leadership abilities through experiences with our team is one of my favorite jobs. The connections I get to make with our coaches, riders and families makes my role as Team Director incredibly rewarding. In my spare time you might catch me daydreaming about building new trails, brainstorming ways to get more girls on bikes, reading a book, gardening with native plants, recording a podcast, or in deep conversation...all while drinking a cup of coffee!
